Trixi Field

Jazz singer, composer, educator

Here are a few samples of Trixi's music from her different areas of endeavour.

A recording of my composition for piano, "Songs of the Mere", beautifully performed by Ian Lawson, is now available to buy. This is a piano suite of 9 movements, each one relating to a mood or feature of each of the Meres in and around Ellesmere in North Shropshire.  The CD retails at £9.99 (plus p&p). Some tracks are currently available also on Spotify.

"Green" is an album of some of my jazz songs. I enjoy writing swing tunes, ballads, latin numbers - all kinds of styles.  This is "Harry's Waterside Bar", a song which earned me honours in the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Competition. It features top jazz trumpeter Steve Waterman.  The CD currently retails for £7.99 (plus p&p). Single track downloads currently retail for £1.10 each.

One of the things I've noticed when I've been teaching recorder, is that there don't seem to be many contemporary tunes written specifically for the learner - many have been adapted from other wind instruments. To try to fill that gap, I am in the process of writing lively new tunes in a variety of styles specifically for the learner in my series "Twenty Totally Tootable Tunes".

Here's a sample from book I, available from www.lulu.com/spotlight/trixifield. Watch this space for book II!

My children's songs have been included in one of the OUP's "Junior Voiceworks" volumes and also Faber's "Sing Up!" site. Here's a sample performance of one of them - "Song Train" - from my book of songs for children "Jazzicle Pops!" The book is available from amazon and also http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/trixifield

Listen to some of Trixi's latest suite for piano and clarinet -

"Trees" written and recorded during lockdown through 2020 and 2021.  The piano parts were played by Ian Lawson and recorded at Fieldgate Studios in Penarth. The Clarinet was recorded by Anna Hayes at her home.  The two parts were melded together by Ian in Penarth and the final videos created by Trixi at her home.
